Visit of the Great Mosque built by Sultan Qaboos, a splendid example of modern Islamic architecture: impressive is the prayer hall for the richness of the decorations, the dome, the crystal chandelier and the 4,200 sqm Persian carpet.
After the visit, departure with 4WD vehicles towards North-West direction, the Hajar mountain range, characterized by spectacular scenery and peaks reaching 3,000 m. The road gradually climbs through the Wadi Bani Awf, with rock walls with beautiful hues and bizarre morphology.
Picnic lunch in the wadi and reach over 2,000 m. with a superb view of the Hajar mountain range.
Arrival in Jebel Shams in the afternoon, dinner and overnight at the resort.

Nizwa, the "Pearl of Islam", stands on a plain surrounded by a thick oasis of palm trees. Here we will visit the seventeenth century fort and the recently renovated suq, which offers beautiful handicrafts: lecterns, ceramics from neighboring Bahla, censers, walking sticks, men headgear and much more.
The city is also renowned for its silversmiths who offer, in addition to jewelry, also the khanjar, the classic finely worked silver omani daggers.
After the visits, departure from Nizwa to reach the village of Mintrib.
We will then leave the road to enter the pink and orange dunes of the Sharqiya Sands desert, also known as the Wahiba desert, named after the most important Bedouin tribe that has lived here for centuries thanks to the water wells and bushes that allow to breed goats and camels.

Leaving the camp, we will enter the red sand dunes of the desert.
The Sharqiya Sands, thanks to its proximity to the Indian Ocean, is characterized by an area covered with bushes and acacia groves.
Here, red dunes alternate with ancient river beds now disappeared. Little by little we will leave the "green zone" reaching larger and cleaner dunes.
The day is entirely dedicated to discover the desert.
We will stop before sunset to set up the camp and walk through the dunes to enjoy the view at sunset.

In the morning we will reach Mahoot, where we will refuel and stop for lunch.
In the afternoon we will continue on the route through large esplanades of salt that lead to the coast, traveling on beaches where flocks of birds rise in flight when as cars pass through.
We will arrive at the beautiful bay of Barr Al Hikman, surrounded by white sand dunes that join the sea.

In the morning, after a walk on the beach, we will continue with the cars along the coast that has a particular pink shade, due to the presence of millions of shell fragments.
After lunch in a local restaurant we will go ahead the road that will lead us to Ras Al Haad, the extreme eastern point of the Arabian peninsula.
We will stay in a nice resort with bungalows on the beach and, after dinner, we will go on a trip to the Ras Al Jinz nature reserve, a green turtle breeding area.
Here, if we are lucky, we will see the turtles lay their eggs and the little turtles run towards the sea.
After the visit that could last a couple of hours, back to the resort and overnight.

After breakfast we will lead towards Sur, a small town surrounded by a natural bay. Here, the harbor district is still in traditional style. We will visit the dhow construction site, the typical wooden boats that have always crossed the seas of Arabia and that still are used by fishermen for small businesses with Iran and Pakistan.
We will continue along the coast on a panoramic road that runs between mountains and sea and we will stop at the ruins of the city of Qalhat. Founded in the II century BC, was an important port during the Middle Ages and Marco Polo stopped there during his trip to the East.
We will then enter Wadi Tiwi, a canyon with imposing cliffs where you will find terraced villages and palm groves.
After lunch in the restaurant we will reach Muscat and visit the Old Muscat area, home of the Alam Palace, the official palace of His Majesty the Sultan and the two Portuguese forts Al Jalali and Al Mirani, dating back to the 16th century.
Afterwards, we will visit the Muttrah souk, the traditional market where you can buy beautiful artifacts from the Omani: silver jewels, the typical khanjar daggers, spices, various incense fragrances, pashminas, wooden objects and more.

Giorno 1: Muscat - Khasab
Transfer to the airport for morning flight Muscat - Khasab, welcome at the airport upon arrival and transfer to the hotel.
As an alternative to the flight, possibility of land transfer.
Free lunch. In the early afternoon, departure with 4WD vehicles for the Jebel Harim, the chain of rugged mountains of limestone origin that occupies the entire continental area of the Musandam peninsula.
We will reach over 1,100 meters in height, in an area inhabited by the Shihuh tribe, which is supposed to have migrated from Yemen many hundreds of years ago: small settlements of stone houses, some flocks of goats and isolated tufts of palm trees characterize the environment.
The mountains are rich in fossils and prehistoric rock engravings to witness ancient human settlements. But what is most striking are the incredible views that suddenly appear in wild valleys that are lost towards the blue sea.
At the end return to Khasab.

Day 2: the Musandam fjords
After breakfast, transfer from the hotel to the port of Khasab. Day dedicated to visiting the Musandam fjords on board a dhow, a typical boat of the Arabian peninsula.
We will have the chance to admire beautiful natural scenery, swim and snorkel.
Lunch on board.
Return in the afternoon, dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 3: Khasab – Muscat
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for Khasab - Muscat flight.

Day 1: Muscat - Salalah
Arrival in the evening from Muscat. Transfer to the hotel and overnight.
Day 2: Salalah – Wadi Dharbat – Khor Rori – Salalah
In the morning, we drive east through the cultivation of coconut palms, banana trees and papaya, then along the coast to the beach of Taqa.
After a stop at the fishing village of Mirbat, we will reach the valley of Wadi Dharbat, a small eden of trees, water and grazing animals.
Lunch in a local restaurant.
Back to Salalah, the real surprise will be Khor Rori, a large desert inlet separated from the sea by a tongue of sand: in the middle, on a rocky outcrop, there are the ruins of Sumhurum, the ancient Abyssopolis of the Romans. The city was the point of collecting and sorting the incense that, by sea, was sent to the Mediterranean and then to Europe; the ruins date back to 100 BC. It is here that the Queen of Sheba lived for several years. Not far away, at the edge of the bay, stands a large reed bed where herons and flamingos come to rest.
In Salalah where we will visit the Al Balid museum and the interesting suq, where you can buy the original Dhofar incense, considered the best in the world, and decorated features.
Return to the hotel, free dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Salalah – Mughsayl - Muscat
Visit of Mughsayl beach, made special by the presence of natural fumaroles and the area of the incense trees, the precious resin that made important the Dhofar region and whose trade expanded to the coasts of India.
Lunch in a local restaurant.
In the afternoon, transfer to the airport for return flight to Muscat. Dinner and overnight at hotel in Muscat.
